Welcome to my cute blog!

I am Vikas Gupta, a research scholar with JNU, New Delhi, India. Tuk Tuk was my nickname given by my friends in JNU and I like it; It has fallen in disuse but came in handy while claiming a web address!

This is a small effort to get a beautiful web presence. My primary blog is here. You must visit this blog. Though WordPress is better than Blogger/Blogspot, it has certain limitations. I could not have got an external theme such as this Aspire theme installed unless I bought an upgrade!

This blog has my complete Orkut profile reproduced here. I wanted a beautiful and classy web presence. If you have been redirected here from my Orkut profile, please read all the entries here.

This is also an effort to suggest and encourage my friends to get a blog for themselves; I hope they find it tempting enough! Please browse the various categories and read about me. Healthy, low-calories food only (including low-cooked/boiled vegetables) for permanent youth, longevity and a strong, slim, six pack body (because health > wealth).

It is a 'miracle' how I quit oily food which I loved so much! I miss oily food such as puri and bhature in my quest for low-calories, just the same!

I am truly tempted by Chocolates, Cake, Cream, Pastry, Ice cream, Gulab Jamun etc.; so please never bring them to me. Probably nothing is tastier than a chocolate cake heated on the microwave on full power for 10 seconds and received in a hungry stomach! Oh! my mouth is watering, may result a river!

I have a small TV in my room which has only DD national and DD news; Sometimes I watch parliamentary proceedings on it.

If I have access to a TV with cable connection, all cartoon channels and Discovery and Nat Geo are mine.

Animation, Classics, meaning-full,emotional films that make me cry or make me think/inspire me. I esp like foreign language films suitably subtitled.I had a truly huge collection of movies including many of the greatest films ever made (from 1920s to 2008)!I'd made it hoping I will gift it one day to 'someone!' I have read very few in an effort to maintain 'cerebral hygiene.'

Seven novels by R.K. Narayan, The House of Blue Mangoes by David Davidar, Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, Train to Pakistan by Khuswant Singh (I would recommend all of these) and some non-fiction and some Hindi works mostly by Premchand.

I have this fear that I will lose my imagination if I read much! I am a voracious reader just the same. I have read a lot of text books and newspapers preparing for the Civil Services Examination. I have decided to write a few books before I read a lot of fiction etc. so that my imagination and wisdom remains untouched by the greatness of renowned authors/thinkers and I evolve along my own genius. To compensate for it, I like films based on books such as Love in the time of Cholera, Gone with the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, The Count of Monte Cristo, Pride and Prejudice etc.

I am beginning to realize Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche's saying: "Without music life would be a mistake!"
